Tempers flared — again — in Wrightsville as an attempt to abolish the borough's voting wards appears likely to go to the courts.
In December, Republicans on the borough council approved an ordinance eliminating the system of voting that elected members based on geographic precincts — a system that, in recent years, resulted in two Democrats joining the council. Under the new system, all council members would be elected based on a majority of all Wrightsville voters, potentially giving Republicans an advantage in future elections.
